US and China share vision for Global Recovery
The United States and China vowed to work together going forward for a global economic recovery. In meetings this week between US and Chinese representatives in Washington DC the two super powers agreed to a continuing dialogue on the world economic situation.
"Laying this groundwork may not deliver a lot of concrete achievements immediately but every step on this path to create confidence and understanding is a very good investment," US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told a news conference.
The delegations also spoke about how to handle North Korea in the future as well as issues on the human rights front as well as global warming concerns. "Human rights is absolutely integral to the strategic and economic dialogue," Clinton said. "We discussed a number of human rights issues, including the situation in Xinjiang, and we expressed our concerns."
America's historic Chinatowns, home for a century to immigrants seeking social support and refuge from racism, are fading as rising living costs, jobs elsewhere and a desire for wider spaces lure Asian-Americans more than ever to the suburbs.
